Imy is an award winning Theatre Director who trained on the Drama Directing MA at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. Her work has been performed across the UK and in Germany.
Recently she was shortlisted for the RTST Sir Peter Hall Award 2025 and was the recipient of the Nicole Kidman Bursary from MGC Futures. Her production ‘BEASTS’ by Mandi Chivasa was awarded a Fringe First Award in 2023 and her production ‘Duck’ won a Charlie Hartill Award in 2024. She was the Mackintosh Resident Assistant Director at Kiln Theatre 2024/5. Other Assistant/ Associate directing has included work in the West End and on touring productions with Theatre Royal Bath.
She was an Artistic Associate at Arcola Theatre 2023/4, where she worked in house on programming and producing and a Creative Associate at Jermyn St Theatre 2022/3. She has spoken on panels including at the V&A Museum and Pleasance Theatre and has worked as script reader and/or dramaturg at Hampstead Theatre, Kiln Theatre and Arcola Theatre. She has worked as a guest director at Cambridge University and a guest speaker for New York University. In 2024 she contributed a chapter to Aurora Metros’s book ‘50 Years of Feminist Theatre: Then and Now’.
Currently she is writing her first play, ‘The Vanishing Act’, with support from MGC Futures, which was workshopped at Kiln Theatre.
